The
RSDF is not perfect, but seeing that it has been through a few reviews,
the ACDP feels that it should now be approved so that the Tshwane
Metropolitan Municipality can have a legal document as a basis to work
from. We trust that the implementation of the RSDF will bring about
stricter controls that will stifle illegal development.
We just
have to keep in mind that the more densification we have, the more
green areas we need to maintain balance. But we must also ensure that
these green areas are kept in pristine condition and are definitely not
allowed to develop into slums or public health hazards.
Furthermore,
the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality must ensure that they put
in place proper planning – well in advance - with regard to
sustainable service delivery during and after the densification process.
Lastly,
because it took such a long time to get this RSDF this far, we should
start to work on the next RSDF as soon as possible in order to get it
approved in the next 3 to 5 years.
