The ACDP has a problem with this report. The tariffs for the 2007/ 2008
financial year have already been approved, published and implemented
with effect from 1 July 2007.
A balanced budget; meaning that the budgeted income on the one hand and
budgeted expenditure on the other side has also been approved.
What this report seeks to do is to add 14% VAT to the approved tariffs,
without improving the services. Our residents are being asked to pay
14% more, but won't be receiving anything more. Fire brigade,
libraries, burial services, etc. will all cost 14% more.
The ACDP can thus not support this report and proposes that the VAT on
these services be introduced in the next budget cycle, starting on 1
July 2008.
Our residents should not be forced to pay more than is absolutely necessary.
I thank you
