Tshwane Metro - ACDP Amendment accepted on Acting Allowances for Officials (Item 6)
28 August 2008

The Tshwane Metropolitan Council today unanimously accepted an amendment tabled by ACDP Councillor, Richard Dinkelmann.

The amendment limited the scope of the powers originally proposed to be given to the Municipal Manager (MM). It had been originally been proposed that Council delegate to the MM the powers to finalise the negotiations with labour "AND CHANGE OF MANDATE IF NECESSARY". The ACDP believed that these powers were too wide and proposed that it be amended to "IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACTING DETERMINATION PRINCIPLES AS CONTAINED UNDER POINT 5 OF THE REPORT."

A further amendment that was tabled by the ACDP & unanimously accepted by Council, is that the MM report back to Council detailing the terms of the agreement reached at the Bargaining Council.

We wish to use this opportunity to thank all members for their support, and believe that this is a significant step towards transparent and accountable government.

Working towards Godly Governance...
