SAMWU UNRULINESS & VIOLENCE

The ACDP condemns the unruliness and violence that have taken place in the City centre on Monday and Tuesday during the Municipal Workers Union strike. This can result in the taxpayers having to foot the bill when it comes to claims against the Metro.

The reason for the strike gets fuzzy when unruly behaviour takes over and causes damages that may result in unnecessary claims....

ACDP response to Tshwane Metro Mayor's State of the City Address

The only significant announcement was establishment of a Tshwane Business Council, which we welcome and trust will be inclusive - small, medium & large businesses & chambers from accross the racial spectrum & political convictions. We further trust that it will contribute to accelerate the economic growth in the Metropolitan area for the benefit of all our residents.

We are also happy to hear about the planned investments in the automotive industry...

Municipal Manager gets unlimited powers

The ACDP would like to express their disappointment in the conduct of the ANC during the Council meeting of 31May. Every amendment proposed by opposition parties has been voted on and defeated by the ANC majority.

This makes decisions in the interest of good governance impossible. It appears that we are living in a one party state under the banner of democracy....

APPROVED City of TSHWANE FIFA WORLD CUP COMPOSITE LOGOS

It is with regret that we notice that the name PRETORIA was added, very small, to the City of Tshwane 2010 Fifa World cup composite logo and not to the composite logos for local usage.

The BRAND value of the name Pretoria that is 153 years old has been trashed in the process.

There is a huge monetary value that is attached to a name in the marketing world. If a company does not tap into the power of a brand in their branding strategy they are losing money. Plain and simple...

The City of Tshwane Spatial Development Strategy

Heraclitus wrote (Greek philosopher):  Everything in the natural world is in flux.  When we suppose we see static situations, we actually see processes of beginning and processes of ending occurring simultaneously.  Nothing is static.  It is the same with cities.

The ACDP supports the strategy that people live closer to work.

What we cannot support is forced integration (the reverse of forced separation) and disorder, which could result from incorrect application of such a policy. Natural integration has already started to take place...
