ACDP QUESTIONS THE INVOLVEMENT OF COUNCILLORS IN
COMPANIES WHICH RECEIVED TENDERS FROM COUNCIL
On the 5th of August 2004, councillor Richard Dinklemann submitted a set of questions to the
Executive Mayor of Tshwane requesting information on the involvement
of councillors in Companies which were awarded tenders by council.
According to the applicable section
of Standing Orders of Council, questions submitted to the Mayor in terms
of the section, must be answered at the next ordinary meeting of Council.
However the Mayor did not answer these questions at the meeting in August.
Neither did he in the meeting of September, October or November.
According to the Administration,
these questions will answered in a report form early in 2005. It
makes one wonder if the ANC has something to hide perhaps.
Here are the questions:
-
Which past and currently sitting Tshwane Metro
Councillors have concluded business or contracts with the CTMM between
January 2000 and the end of August 2004 with their own registered
Company or Close Corporation or one in which they have a shareholding
interest?
-
In each Councillor's case, what were the
names of the Companies or Close Corporations involved?
-
In each Councillor's case, was the
interest of the Councillor declared?
-
In each Councillor's case, did the
Councillor recuse him or herself during deliberations on said contracts,
if applicable?
-
In each Company or Close Corporation's
case, how many contracts were concluded, on what dates, for which
services, and at what value?
Watch this space for the
answers!
